JGB: Addition will assume space now accupied by the company parking lot
LIVERPOOL — J.G.B. Enterprises will add 15,000 square feet to its 65,000-square-foot headquarters here. The new space will help the company operate more efficiently, says Robert Zywicki, president of J.G.B. Enterprises. The company's main office is located at 115 Metropolitan Dr. in the Town of Salina. J.G.B. also has a nearby 30,000-square-foot warehouse it built four years ago.
The new addition will hold J.G.B's quality-control office and free up space for a more efficient flow of products, he adds. The project will cost the company approximately $700,000. J.G.B.'s next-door neighbor, Parsons-McKenna Construction Co., Inc., is building the addition. J.G.B. headquarters is located on a five-acre parcel.
The first step of the project, Zywicki explains, involves a parking-lot expansion to replace the 15,000 square feet of employee parking the addition will displace. J.G.B. employs 160 at its Salina headquarters. Work on the foundation should begin in the next two weeks, he adds.
“Business has grown across all our lines,” says Zywicki.
Founded in 1977 by entrepreneur Jay G. Bernhardt, J.G.B. Enterprises sells hoses and hose assemblies for commercial and military applications. The company stocks more than $2.5 million worth of inventory to allow for same-day shipping of most orders. The majority of its customers comes from outside Central New York. J.G.B. has branch offices in Charlotte, N.C.; Kansas City, Mo.; and Buffalo. The company's branch offices employ 20.
“We do 80 percent of our sales outside New York State,” says Zywicki.
J.G.B.'s Internet presence has helped it gain business from across the country and overseas, he adds. The company's site, www.jgbhose.com, allows customers to search for products by part number, manufacturer, application, or even by the chemical the hose will carry. Another site, www.militarysupplier.com , lists J.G.B. military-specification hoses.
J.G.B buys hose products from 1,500 suppliers. Its hoses are used anywhere products must move through a tube. J.G.B's worldwide customer base includes such diverse industries as fire-equipment manufacturers, oil companies, and dairy processors, as well as defense contractors and governments.
